Additional information

The first issue of the five-part coin series on constitutional history shows a hand throwing a ballot paper into a ballot box. In the First Peace of Paris in 1814, Malta was awarded to Great Britain and thus became a British colony. The coin depicts the 1849 elections, in which the first Maltese members of the Government Council were voted. This body advised the British Governor of Malta.
