The Seventh World Families’ Meeting in Milan

The inner ring features a family with the Cathedral of Milan. The inscription ‘VII INCONTRO MONDIALE DELLE FAMIGLIE’ surrounds the design, forming a semi-circle which is complemented at the upper right side by the name of the issuing state ‘CITTÁ DEL VATICANO’. The year 2012 appears on the right side and the name of the artist ‘G. TITOTTO’ followed by the indication of the engraver ‘LDS Inc’ is displayed on the left side. The mintmark ‘R’ appears at the bottom of the design, between the mother and the child. The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.

Additional information

After Rome 1994, Rio de Janeiro 1997, Rome 2000, Manila 2003, Valencia 2006 and Mexico City 2009, the VII World Meeting of Families took place in Milan from 29 May to 3 June 2012. The coin shows a family in front of the Milan Cathedral, built between 1386 and 1813.
