Additional information

Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901), the Italian composer of the Romantic period, became famous above all for his operas, including Rigoletto, Otello and Falstaff. The 200th anniversary of his birth is the occasion for the commemorative coin, which was designed after the 1886 oil painting Portrait of Giuseppe Verdi, seated by Giovanni Boldini (1842-1931).
