Additional information

The coin is dedicated to Central Livonia and shows a griffin, a fantasy figure in heraldry with an eagle's upper body and a lion's lower body in the coat of arms of the historical region of Latvia. As early as 1566 the coat of arms of the Duchy of Livonia (Pārdaugava) showed a griffin turned to the left - the griffin in the coat of arms of Latvia turns to the right.
