150th Anniversary of the Constitution of Luxembourg

The design shows on the left hand the effigy of His Royal Highness, the Grand-Duke Henri, looking to the right. At the right hand of the design are depicted the year-dates ‘1868-2018’ as well as the text ‘150 ans’. Below the effigy of the Grand-Duke appear the text ‘Constitution du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg’ and a lateral cut view of an open booklet. The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.

Additional information

On 17 October 1868, a comprehensive revision of the text of the Constitution of 1848 came into force. To mark the 150th anniversary, the coin bears the year "1868" of the entry into force of the Constitution to the right of the portrait of Grand Duke Henri, the year of issue "2018" and, in French, "150 ANS" (150 years), as well as the occasion of issue "CONSTITUTION DU GRAND-DUCHÉ DE LUXEMBOURG" (Constitution of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg) in three lines in the lower half of the pill. Above the country name, the cross-section of an open book symbolises the text of the constitution.
