The inner part of the coin shows nine people rowing a boat with long oars. The year mark 2007 and the year 1917 appear on the top and the bottom of the design respectively. The mintmark appears on the left hand side, and the indication of the country ‘FI’ on the right hand side. The outer ring of the coin depicts the twelve stars of the European flag.

Additional information

The commemorative coin shows a longship, a Nordic rowing vessel similar to the Gokstad ship. Nine people (only the rowers on one side of the ship are visible) are rowing to the left - symbolically towards freedom. Waves are stylised below the boat.
