The design depicts the composer Mikis Theodorakis. The theme is bordered by the inscriptions “100 ΧΡΟΝΙΑ ΑΠΟ ΤΗ ΓΕΝΝΗΣΗ ΤΟΥ ΜΙΚΗ ΘΕΟΔΩΡΑΚΗ” ("100 YEARS FROM THE BIRTH OF MIKIS THEODORAKIS") and “ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ” (“HELLENIC REPUBLIC”); below is the minting year, to the right a palmette (mintmark of the Greek Mint) and to the left the treble clef and staff. The coin’s outer ring depicts the 12 stars of the European flag.
