Additional information

In 1809, the Grand Duchy of Finland was formed, which was part of the Russian Empire but enjoyed extensive political autonomy. The coin depicts the gable of Porvoo Cathedral, the site of Finland's first parliament, which was built in the 15th century and partially destroyed by fire in 2006.
